Iris Dark Gtk Theme: v1.10 by TheVirtualDragon Iris Dark Gtk Theme: v1.10 by TheVirtualDragon
Iris Dark is a flat theme that uses varying shades and tones to create distinction and a modern experience. It supports Gtk 3.18 and Gtk 2 (using the Murrine engine).

I'd appreciate it if you could report any bugs you find at github.com/xyl0n/iris/
Follow the Iris Project page on Google+: plus.google.com/10130091581553…
Also see the Iris Light theme: fav.me/d73dv3h

The icons remain unreleased for now :(

If you wish to, you can buy the theme to help support it's development.

Happy tweaking :)

The window controls are sort of "broken" if they are on the left side rather than the right side.

I have basically completed the updates to 3.18, so if you really want to get it now you can download it fromthe development page www.github.com/xyl0n/iris. There shouldn't be any breakages, but you may see a few bugs which I want to get sorted before the official release :D

Hi,
If you download the theme, and extract the zip file, then there should be a file called README. This has instructions for installation.
You will need a theme changer like Gnome Tweak Tool or Ubuntu Tweak.

Hi, I love your theme!!
I use ElementaryOS, I have many bugs, for ex:
# text, and background in tweaks settings are white, and I can't read text.
i.imgur.com/SZ0UdO2.png
# Folder and file name's are white

Can I fix this bug? What file I must edit for fix it?
I hope your help. Thanks

Hi,
I did start on elementary OS support a while back but I seem to have misplaced the modifications I made.
Please note that when the fixes for this come out, they will only be compatible with elementary OS 0.3 Freya, which is the latest release.

Thank you!

Hey, I love your theme, great work! However, I still can't get Chrome/Chromium border to use dark color from your theme (#333333).

Changing "ChromeGtkFrame::frame-color = text_color" breaks chromium theming (defaults to default) and text_color has already a proper value anyway. Not sure how to fix this, chrome theming apps are no good since I can't make it 100% consistent with rest of your theme.

Any ideas? :)

I'm not entirely sure that you can theme Chrome from Gtk2 anymore, since it now uses the Aura engine to render items. The best you can do is use a theme, which may be able to get you close.

Hi!

Firts of all, thank you for this awesome theme, it really made my fedora desktop looks amazing.
Secondly, I just wanted to report a minor bug:
Highlighted content in tomahawk player (under the collection tab) make the text appear white on a white background, and therefore unreadable.
I'm on fedora 21, gnome 3.14. (tomahawk 0.8.2)

Hi! Thanks for reporting the issue - I've reported it on the issue tracker (github.com/xyl0n/iris/issues/1…). It would be useful to know what distro you're using and your version of Gtk.

There's currently no Xfce window theme for Iris, but you can try to use Numix instead as they are very similar.

It's not very simple, but you can start by modifying an existing theme, such as Numix or Iris. The documentation for the how to modify the code is here - developer.gnome.org/gtk3/stabl…

They (Gnome-devs) should made it easier to create/edit themes.
The documentation/wiki should also show improvements/more examples.

I'd also searched for a good tutorial, but mostly they also give instructions on howto modified existing theme's.
But it should be better to create/write from scratch, as the same way you write a HTML-page. ;)

I agree, but the problem with writing from scratch is that most themes are pretty much identical code wise (apart from the theming of the individual widgets) since they both need to contain roughly the same code in order to work. So there's no point starting from scratch because you'll probably end up with code that's very similar to another theme, even if the actual look and feel of your theme is different.

But apart from that, there should be an easier way to edit themes, if only to encourage more people to create them.
